I’ve always had a natural curiosity about how things work. How people made money. How buildings were built.
As my career developed in my 30’s, I started seeing patterns, I asked a lot of questions and I learned that I had an amazing memory for small bits of information, names and faces and geography. I remembered where I met someone, sometimes what they were wearing and always, what product / company they represented.
People would call me and say, “I’m looking for xxxxx, do you know someone who makes this?”
“Yes”, I would reply, “call Billy, here’s the number. If you would like, I’ll make an intro.”
That’s how it started, I would just connect people, sometimes the sellers would say, “great lead, Ed, can I put 2 points in the price for you?” “No”, I would answer, “remember me one day, when someone needs a website, or a sell sheet and make a recommendation.”
That’s how The Food Connector came to be, simply connecting people with needs with someone who could help.
Isn’t this the basis of the whole food industry? Don’t we all ask questions to find out what people need, what their problems are, how we can help. Some of us sell the products that our company stocks. Some of us create proprietary products. Some of us fashion custom solutions.
Those of us in the food industry are all Food Connectors. I love what I do. My team helps companies plan and execute marketing solutions that generate leads and introduce new items to existing customers. We help a lot of smaller companies run circles around bigger companies. We create, we find clever solutions, we dream.
Become your own food connector for your customers, it’s rewarding and fun and everyday is different. Send me a note and share your story, I want to know who else is on the journey.
